Mesa Rose Kitchen and Grocery reopens at its new location

Posted

After being closed for several weeks, Mesa Rose Kitchen and Grocery has partially reopened at 1590 Grand Ave. in Norwood, across the street from their previous location. Mesa Rose has been a staple in the community for almost five years, since they began operating in Norwood, bringing the community a place to find all their breakfast, brunch and home-good needs.

Mesa Rose Kitchen and Grocery offers a wide variety of products ranging from coffee, bagels and pastries to farm fresh produce and freshly-made pies, and from candles, soaps, and skincare to art.

The open and vibrant atmosphere of Mesa Rose, carefully crafted and curated by the Andersons, is one that everyone can enjoy.

Kate and Erik Anderson created Mesa Rose in November 2021 as a way to build something together, and in doing so, created a community favorite business that was voted Business of the Year for two years in a row.

The limited  opening is partly due to the ongoing renovations of the new shop. The remodeling has shortened the store hours to 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays. Mesa Rose is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Before a full reopening, the renovations to the bathroom, kitchen and walls must be completed, as well as painting and all the extra details that help create the ambiance of Mesa Rose. Kate said they are excited about the remodel because they love taking on a new challenge.

“It’s exciting to create a space no one imagined,” she said. “It’s all incredibly overwhelming, but we finally see some light down at the end of the tunnel.”

With the new location also comes new additions to Mesa Rose, including an outdoor space that they plan on making a new gathering area for customers.

“We plan to put down gravel, oversized picnic tables, have a couple games and a garden … the fun part about the space is that there are a lot of possibilities,” Kate said.

The partial opening means the shop only has mercantile status, meaning Mesa Rose is only able to sell their retail products and to-go food orders; sit-down service will not be available during the remodel. As they continue working to revitalize the new space, they are keeping things simple, focusing on their best-selling items and waiting to add new products until the full reopening.

While the date of the full reopening is unknown, the Andersons are continuing to pour the same passion and dedication into Mesa Rose as they have since its inception.

Kate said she especially enjoys the connections to the community she has made as Mesa Rose continues to grow.

“Knowing all the people who walk through the door, knowing their stories … it means something,” she said.

Now that Mesa Rose has partially reopened, the community is welcome to enjoy their popular bagels.
